Why should I submit my work to Fallen Knights?
Some of these questions are better answered in reverse. Why shouldn't you submit your work to Fallen Knights? There's no harm come from letting your work be seen (and admired!) by a broader audience. If you've spent time creating something, whether it be fanfiction, fanart, or a graphic, share it with your fellow fans! Plus you'd have Finni and Avalon's eternal gratitude - and an online cookie! Who can resist a cookie...? ;)

What copyrights do I retain?
To pull a few things from WhatIsCopyRight.org, "copyright laws grant the creator the exclusive right to reproduce, prepare derivative works, distribute, perform and display the work publicly. Exclusive means only the creator of such work, not anybody who has access to it and decides to grab it." As the author, artist, creator, etc, of the work you submit, you would keep those copyrights.

How long will it take for my work to show up on the site?
Honestly, it depends. Finni and Avalon are both very busy with their offline lives, though they'll endeavor to update the site as quickly as possible. Depending on our schedules, updates could be only a few hours apart or even a few weeks.

What forms of work may I submit?
Finally, I can be less vague about the term 'work'! 'Work' is defined by Fallen Knights as: fanfiction, fanart, icons, wallpapers, manipulated pictures, and adoption/claimage banners or graphics. Comments, site suggestions, etc, may be submitted via our normal contact form, while movie reviews can be submitted here.

How do I submit a fic for archival?
If you have written a fic and wish to see it archived, you have one of two options. One, you may post it on our forums under the Fanfiction section. Or, if the story is posted online, you may fill out the fic recommendation form.

What stories/ratings are acceptable?
All! Stories here will not be censored by content, only by quality. So long as the story is clearly marked with warnings, all ratings and types of fics (slash, het, torture, Alternate Universe, Plot What Plot?, etc) are accepted. We ask only that the stories be related to either the movie, King Arthur, or an Arthurian legend.

Why is there only a recommendation form?
To both preserve diskspace and bandwidth, and ensure the quality of the archive, public submissions are closed. Stories are considered for archival only after being recommended by someone, read, and passed by an admin. The exception is with stories posted to the forums, which only need to be read and passed by an admin. Generally stories with few, if any, grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors are passed. The admins do their best to read and consider each story with an unbiased view.

What if my story isn't posted anywhere online?
If you are the author of a story and wish to see it archived, yet it isn't posted anywhere online, then please post it on the forums. Stories posted on the forums are considered for archival just as much as stories recommended to us.

What about fics posted to the Fallen Knights forums?
All are considered for archival, unless otherwise stated by the author in the fic headers. If the fic meets the standards of this site, either Finni or Avalon will contact the author with a request for his/her permission. Complete with puppy eyes and shameless begging. =P

How can I change the graphic next to my story?
When archived, all fics are arbitrarily assigned one of our fanfiction graphics, often of one of the primary characters. If the author wishes to change their graphic, they should contact Avalon by either email or the contact form with the new requested graphic. If authors wish to design their own graphic, the image dimensions are 92X125. Please send graphics to Avalon.

How do I make corrections to my fic?
If you see a mistake or something in need of being changed on your fic archived, please contact Avalon with the neccessary changes. Important changes (change of title, email, wording) will be honored ASAP. Minor spelling and grammar changes will be honored at earliest convenience.

What constitutes as a 'graphic'?
Wallpapers, icons, manipulated pictures, adoption/claimage banners and buttons that can be used freely.

What restrictions are there on graphics?
Unlike fanfiction, the rating of a graphic cannot be above R. Absolutely no graphics may display inappropriate uncovered body parts. I'm sure you're familiar with which ones!

What credit do I receive for LiveJournal icons?
If you'll review the procedures for our current icons, you'll see they mostly match the instructions for many LJ icon usage policies. Your LJ account name and original post with the icons (if available) will be attached to your icons so those wishing to use your icons will have no problem tracking down the source.

What if I can't come up with a name for my wallpaper?
The admins (and their friends!) will attempt to name your wallpaper for you. Please note by submitting your wallpaper to us without a name, you are giving the admins free rein to name your wallpaper. And we are not exactly known for our naming skills. However if you truly can't think of a name, we will come up with one for you, which may be changed at your later request.

Are there any restrictions on adoption/claimage banners and buttons?
The same restrictions for graphics apply for banners and buttons. Please try to keep them of reasonable size, of which we mean the same sizes that are already on the site, 367x100 or smaller.

What is considered fanart?
Anything that you have drawn. Physically, digitally, the medium does not matter but it must be of your own creation. Do not alter movie stills or promotional shots of the characters, or put a filter over them in Photoshop. This is not fanart. That would be a graphic. With fanart, we are looking at pencil, paper, markers, pens, mouse, tablet, etc.

What kind of personal information of mine will be posted?
Whatever you feel comfortable posting. You can use your real name, fake name, online name, whatever. If you don't want your email posted, say so. If you do not want a link to your website, we won't ask for it. However, not supplying a name and email may rouse suspision if you are accused of being an art theif.

I see fanart that doesn't belong to the stated artist!
If you are certain that the fanart here doesn't belong to that artist, please contact us with the subject "ART THEIF" immediately and we will have it removed, unless the artist can prove that they are the real artist of that picture.

What if I submitted my art and would like it removed?
Send us an email with the subject "REMOVE ART" with the name that is displayed next to your work in the fanart section and for verification, how your art made it onto the Fallen Knights fanart section (self submit, forum post, deviantART note, etc). After it is removed, an email will be sent to the address of the artist for further verification.

Is skill level a factor when submitting fanart?
Yes and no. Yes in the fact that if it looks like you spent 5 seconds drawing a stick figure and labeled it "Arthur" so that you can get your website plugged from our fanart page, we will not accept it. Please put effort into your work. You don't need to be a brilliant artist, as long as you try or you have an interesting concept to explore, you will be accepted and archived. Posting in the forums first would be a good idea, where you can get feedback about your art and it will also be considered for archival.

Do you accept drawings of original King Arthur characters?
No. Post it in the forums if you wish to put those images online for feedback. Most likely, they will not be considered for archival.
